Windmills and Flowers

I had to stretch my imagination to fulfill this week’s Lilac or Flowers prompt for the Nurture Photo Challenge.  Here is what I came up with and 5 Random Thoughts for the week.

1.  This week mother nature is still confused   Wednesday was rather windy.  In the morning we had several flurries go through.  In the afternoon it got up to 45* and melted what little snow we had left.

2.  Our Lilac bushes, like the rest of our trees and flowers, are not blooming.  Maybe May will be full of spring’s beautiful colors.

3.  I have had an itch to photograph windmills.  As I looked at the windmills I they reminded me of a flower.  The spokes of the windmill as the petals with a distinct center and long stem.

4.  I still have a few pictures of my birthday flowers.  I dried them and set them on top of the entertainment center.  This way I can still enjoy the thoughtfulness of my Husband and remember the pretty blooms.

Thank You for the comment and thinking about me Linda! I hope you get your technology up and running. It’s the pits when we are disconnected. Have a great weekend with your Husband and cooking. Feel free to share your recipes. I am always looking for something new to try. I tried a recipe called Loaded Baked Potato Buffalo Chicken today, not a keeper for us.

Windmills do look rather like flowers.
What a great picture of you and your Sister, I LOVE it! Tell her happy birthday from me! 🙂

  4. Sandra says:

I am envious of your windmill! I would love to have one. There was one originally on the property 100 years ago 🙂

    • Robyn says:

Windmills are fun to photograph! They are becoming a thing of the past as there are better and more reliable technologies to water livestock. In addition, windmills are high maintenance compared to other water options.

  5. Nancy says:

I love seeing working windmills — so many around here have pieces missing either due to the weather or theft.

Our lilacs are just starting to bud. xo

  6. Love that windmill pic!

yes, the photoediting does consume a lot of time! I feel overwhelmed when I come home from an outing with tons of pics. BTW, I have a recipe for hamburger buns done in the bread machine that are pretty decent if you’re interested.

  7. Your pics of the windmills for some reason remind me of Oklahoma… and such pretty flowers too!

  8. Snap says:

I love windmills and they do look like flowers. Your birthday flowers are lovely. I adore Daisies … such a happy flower! Happy Birthday to your sister. I keep telling myself that Mother Nature knows what she is doing (fingers crossed).

  9. Diane says:

Oh CUTE sister photo! Happy birthday to your sissy. 🙂

  10. nancy says:

I love taking pictures of our windmill. I think I have a few dozen for each season. Never can have too many. 😉 I posted some the other day you might enjoy seeing.
    I enjoyed your random 5.

  11. Molly says:

  15. Tina Barbour says:

Windmills make for some striking photos! They tower over the landscape and are so pretty.

Your birthday flowers are pretty. How do you dry your flowers–do you hang them upside down?

Cute photo of you and your sister! I hope she has a great b-day.

  16. Beth says:

aren’t Windmills the greatest. i have several shots of them. so fun! when we were out west i think we saw more of them. i wonder if that is just the location or what? i see them around here mostly as decoration not in use??! i wonder… need to take a survey for sure. ha. ha!!

tell your sister a Big Happy Birthday for me. celebrate a bunch. ( :

  17. Karen says:

I love the windmills – and it’s really nice you’re able to enjoy your birthday flowers dried! Enjoy your weekend, Robyn!

  18. Bruce says:

I like windmills though you don’t see to many here in Connecticut. Nice shots of them as well.

  19. Shannon says:

Love the photos, they are all beautiful.

  20. I love windmills, too.
I really love farm ones, such as the one you photographed. But this one comes to mind that we saw last summer, too:

No lilacs here either. That’s normal. But normally they’re at least budding out with lots of green leaves!
We hit a meltdown finally over the past 24 hours or so – there are millions of happy Minnesotans in mudboots & shorts. (my kids were barefoot.. little guy stripped down to his undies out there.) 🙂 Snow is melting!
Happy weekend. and hooray for sisters! We went to pick up some alfalfa bales from mine this evening.

  21. Rebecca says:

I had trouble with the prompt too Robyn! I certainly didn’t expect Spring to be so late this year. We’re starting to see a few pops of colour here and there but it looks as though a lot of the flowers might have failed. I hope not! Your birthday flowers are beautiful though!

Thanks so much for taking part in the Nurture Photography Challenge!
