What Fun We Had …

I am sharing my end of the month post a couple of days early. It’s been a busy month, but J and I have managed to squeeze in a little fun too.

September 28

J and I invited friends over Labor Day weekend. We went fishing in our stock dam and made pulled pork on the egg. Everyone caught a fish and left with smiles.

After getting all the hay hauled in, we took a day to rest up before preconditioning calves.

J and woke up to a beautiful rain on our 11th Anniversary. The moisture was much over due and greatly appreciated.

Our good friends invited us to join them for the South Dakota Pork Producers Council 4th Annual Rapid City Taste of Elegance. We enjoyed six gourmet dishes prepared by top rated chefs. J and I had a great time catching up with our friends, meeting new people and visiting family.

Last weekend we celebrated Ashleigh and Steven. They had a gorgeous day for an outdoor wedding and “country” decorated reception. Ashleigh asked me to be the “unofficial” photographer and video tape the wedding. I started taking pictures of the girls getting ready before the professional pictures and documented an awesome reception for this special couple. Again, family, friends and fun times!

The colors of autumn are starting to show, the days are getting shorter and we are enjoying the pace of fall.

What was the highlight of your September?

For us it was Travis and his family arriving the first part of Sept. They stayed for a week and we entertained them with lots of activities. Spent a day and over night in Spearfish to spend time with great grandma (my mom) and did some sightseeing. Made lots of memories. Tim had ear surgery on the 15 but no prognosis as yet. Thanks for sharing life with everyone Robyn.

      Jan,
Glad Travis and his family had a good visit to South Dakota. There are a lot of fun things to do and see in the Hills. J and I try to go to “new to us” activities too. This year the timing worked out for us to go to Art In The Park and the Taste of Elegance.

Hope Tim is doing well after his surgery.

Looks like such a great month! And I love the picture of the cows coming down the road. 🙂

Thanks Darcy! I didn’t take many pre-conditioning pictures this year. I’ve bloged about it several times in the past and need to figure out a creative way to share or touch on it and move on. I’ve been “promoted” to leading cattle with the pickup and snapped the shot while blocking the road to turn them into the corals.

You have had a very busy month, and so nice to see you off farm socialising! I bet it was a joy to photograph your friends wedding.

Looks like a busy but good month. I’m glad you had some much needed rain!!

You guys clean up well – ha! I LOVE the photo of the cattle on the road. I think you should blow it up for a canvas.

The pork event looks like lots of tasty fun. I love those kinds of events!

What a fun and productive month! I agree with Kim about enlarging the photo of the cows on the road.
For September, we were vendors at a local Ranch Rodeo with Jerry’s handmade tack and leather goods and my Mohair cinches…we did WELL! Gave me enough money to buy a registered Alpine buck for my girls. LOL!!

    • Robyn says:

Congratulations on good sales at the Ranch Rodeo, Candy. Hope your girls are excited about the Alpine buck as you are, lol!
