Unsystematic Thoughts

It’s Thursday … again.  Where does the time go?

These are the neighbor’s horses.  It’s fun to take non-cattle photos every once in a while.

The stress level at our house is on the way down.  There are only 3 loads of hay left to haul!  When the ground is firm or frozen enough to grab them that task will be completed.  My Rancher is sleeping much better at night.

Tuesday, we turned the weaned calves into the calving pasture for a few hours. Yesterday, we fed and left them out all night.  The calves were glad to get out and stretch their legs.  They are catching on to eating a mixed feed ration.  We are crossing our fingers they do not spook like they did last year.

Several bloggers are participating in a 30 Days Project for the month of November.  Katie Pinke is celebrating 30 Days of Women In Agriculture.  Katie has featured women in a variety of ag production areas, ag advocates/social media gurus, women in professional fields and more.  The most inspiring thing is all of these gals have a passion for agriculture and telling their story.

I am not a huge TV watcher; I do have a few shows I enjoy.  Currently, The X Factor has my attention.  J and I watched the first season.  We skipped season two and I picked up this season by accident.  I am hooked.

My other weakness is The Bold and The Beautiful.  My Mom and Dad watched it when Mick and I were growing up and still enjoy it if they are home over the noon hour.  My roommate and I watched it in college.  When I was working in town I didn’t try to keep up.  Last summer I watched a couple episodes.  I did a web search and got caught up on the new characters, now I am addicted.  Our CBS affiliate is out of Sioux Falls, so B&B comes on at 11:30 (we are on Mountain Time, Sioux Falls is Central time).  Most days I am in the house making dinner.  Multitasking at its best!

What is your guilty pleasure TV show?

The Young and the Restless is my soap opera downfall I never watched it before but my Grandmother every time I went to visit went on and on about the characters and I started watching so we would have more to talk about, I have been hooked ever since not sure if it is the show or the memories much like you.
    Love the horses. Hug B

      Miss B,
My Grandma was a Young and Restless watcher too! I don’t know if she still watches it or not. During the summer Sister and I would watch it, so we could visit about it with Grandma. What a fun coincidence.

I LOVE Nashville on ABC on Wednesday nights. I just love country music!!!
Scott has learned that I am unavailable at that time. This summer on our way to Matt’s (Scott’s brother) wedding, we stopped at the Grand Ole Opry for a quick tour. It was awesome!! I really wanted to go to the Blue Bird Café, but maybe next time. Having Matt & Jamie live in Tennessee, I’m sure we will get back there again.
I would highly recommend that show…and it’s only on season 2, so it wouldn’t be that hard to catch up. Sometimes when I start a new show in mid season/series, I like to read the Wikipedia article, so I know what is going on…I know that I’m a nerd. Oh well.

How fun to visit the Grand Ole Opry. Hope you make it to the Blue Bird Cafe, love the name. I saw the previews for Nashville and thought it looked good. For one reason or another we didn’t start watching it.

I am a big fan of Wikipedia too! I don’t think you are nerdy at all.

I’ve gotten hooked on watching The Voice this season – I love how positive the coaches are, and their commentary is pretty funny too. Glad the stress level is down – that’s ALWAYS a good thing. 🙂

Nice looking horses and I LOVE the font you used in that last picture! Woo-hoo on a lower stress level and being able to sleep better at night! 🙂
My favorite shows are all on A&E and none of them are currently airing (it’s their off season). We both like Longmire, The Glades and Vikings. Vikings should be starting back up in January, yay!!

You are right about the stress level. We shipped the feeder heifers yesterday. Moved their mamas to the corn today. Preg the replacement heifer mamas on Monday. Haul the last of the hay. Take a little road trip to Oregon to see my son and spend Thanksgiving with him. He’s gonna cook! oh no! 🙂
Like the pic of the ponies. 🙂

I’m with one of your other readers, in that both Randy & I love “The Voice.” I also like the Food Network competition shows. I DVR them, and they keep me company when I have to walk on the treadmill. (There’s an irony there – watching people make food while exercising. Oh well!) Good luck getting the rest of the hay hauled. I can’t believe we’re to mid-November already.

We watch The Voice, too…and then I have some British shows we like to watch. Scott and Bailey, Most stuff they put on Masterpiece whether it is classic or mystery, and a few others.

Is that a gate in the last shot? Been ages since I saw a fence with a gate like that. We always had a loop down at the bottom to sit it down in till it could not kick out.

    • Robyn says:

That is a gate opener. I saw it when we were trailing cattle home from summer pasture. It is on a neighbor’s gate and I had never seen a handle like that before.

The Rancher makes gate openers so his Mom and I can close any and all gates. We still have a few old style loops though.
