Trees, Beautiful Trees

I’m an introvert… I love being by myself, love being outdoors, love taking a long walk with my dogs and looking at the trees, flowers, the sky.

The trees are God’s great alphabet:
With them He writes in shining green
Across the world His thoughts serene.
~Leonora Speyer

The trees are whispering to me, reminding me of my roots, and my reach… shhhhhh… can you hear them? Selflessly sharing their subtle song. ~Jeb Dickerson

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
~Joyce Kilmer, “Trees,” 1914

      Hi Pat! In western South Dakota trees are a blessing. It takes a lot of work to get them to grow here.

      These pictures were taken in Eastern South Dakota. As you can see that side of the state has better luck with trees.

    I loved your tree shots. One of the first songs I sang for a music festival was based on Joyce Kilmer’s poem, “Trees.” It’s one of my favorites. I loved your other quotes, too. I, too, am a tree watcher. Have a good week, Robyn!
