Thursday Thoughts

This week I wrap up with the last three prompts from The Simple Woman’s Day Book  and add a couple random thoughts.

One of my favorite things… Rosie.  It’s fun to have someone to ride along with me during chores.  I am not a huge fan of Rosie’s big muddy paws and all the dirt she drags into the entry, but I still like her!  She is getting more curious and wants to help in the cattle lots.  Unfortunately J and I don’t want her to “help” just yet.  Rosie is constantly getting sent to the house as we don’t want her or us getting hurt.

A few plans for the rest of the week … Friday afternoon is the funeral for our family friend.  J and I have been blue this week.  It’s hard to lose a special person and hard to watch loved ones go through this difficult time.  We have college friends coming out for the funeral and they are going to spend the rest of the weekend visiting us.

A peek into my day … The wind and cold has made it almost impossible to do very many outside projects.  J and I do chores and lay low in the afternoon.  I have been cooking, getting ready for guests and picture editing.

Cattle Stuff … Wednesday turned out to be a nice day.  We had a neighbor come over to help us run the first calf heifers through the chute.  One step closer to calving.  In a month we will be watching these girls close.

A blog post I like … Amanda at Wildly Simple is one of my of my favorite bloggers.  Amanda shares her everyday life and experiences as a Mom in northern Minnesota. Every once in a while she tactfully shares her opinion and I usually have to giver her a thumbs up! This week she talks about blogging and what it means to her.

It is not hard to love Rosie with her big eyes, big paws and her winter coat.

    • Robyn says:

J and I were just watching Rosie play in the snow. It’s fun to watch her jump, pounce and dance around. We all need a good laugh!

Love that face! She’s so sweet. Yes, this whole community area is feeling the loss of several very good members. I saw this quote in a craft magazine and want to share: “If someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure; always treasure the memories.” It’s one that really helps.

What a sweet face Miss Rosie has and thanks for the links to Amanda’s blog, that is one I’ve missed!
I’m sorry for the loss you all have suffered.

    • Robyn says:

Rosie is sweet. Even when I get upset at her, it doesn’t last long. She’s just a puppy and not fully trained yet. What I don’t like is when J gets upset at me because Rosie misbehaves and I don’t handle it like he wants. I guess both of us need more training.

Amanda’s blog is fun. I hope you enjoy her thoughts and photographs.

Thank you for your thoughts on the loss of our friend.

  4. Kim says:

Continuing to remember you and your friends in prayer as you walk this journey of grief, Robyn. I hope the memories of this special person surround you all and give you comfort and peace.

  5. I hope the weekend of being together begins the path to healing for you & your friends, Robyn.
Thanks for the shout out there – what a sweet surprise. I appreciate your kindness & friendship.

Rosie looks like such a sweet sweet baby. It seems that she will grow into an awesome helper for you and J.
My thoughts and prayers for you, J and friends in your time of sorrow.

Oh I am so sorry about your friend Robyn. The weather is a little warmer this last day so a little easier to do those chores. We will start calving in March I hope it warms up a lot before then. Wish I had a cute little Rosy companion:) Hugs B

  12. lisa says:

Rosie is simply adorable. I love Border Collies. I’m sure she’ll grow up to be a fantastic cattle dog! And that last shot is awesome! Our winter in middle Missouri hasn’t been anywhere near as harsh as your, but I’ve tended to lay low inside this winter.

I’m very sorry about your friend. Rosie is adorable, muddy paws and all (although I might not think that if she was tracking them in my house). Hopefully she’ll be ready to help out on the ranch someday!

This has been a rough winter. I’m hoping we get some nice spring temperatures and less wind in time for kidding/calving.

  16. Oh Rosie is a cutie pie. She has such a sweet face.
I was by your friends blog this morning for my 1st (but not last visit) I enjoyed her blog very much.
Winter has not been kind this year to many people. We’ve been much luckier here, still I am ready for spring.

I also went to a funeral this week. I felt so bad for the family. I got to thinking about it and every funeral I’ve ever gone to has been in the winter. I understand about the muddy paws. I keep an old towel by the door to clean off Ella’s paws.

Enjoy your time with your friends. Hopefully Feb will be less windy and warmer so you can get your necessary outside time in! We sure are hoping for it!
