This Week I Am …

I am creating… To create is to produce something new or artistic by using your talents and imagination.  I continue to create photography.  I still need to read my camera’s manual and want to expand my photography skills.  Someday … soon.

In the mean time, I am creating articles for magazines, blog posts, delicious meals and a cozy home.

I am going… One definition of going is: to describe a situation in which you are trying to make progress or do something.  Some days I have good intentions that I am going to get a few projects done.  Than another project, or a project J needs help with, becomes a priority and

I am left wondering …. What did I get done today?  I got done the bare necessities. Chores went well, we had a good dinner, I spent time helping J in the shop and that is okay.

I am reading… Taking Flight by Adrian R. Magnuson.  It’s a story about a retired college professor that is passionate about birds who has advanced Alzheimer disease.  He accidentally meets a thirteen year old boy from a broken home who loves birding. Together they have an interesting roadtrip.

I am hoping… the magic cleaning fairy stops at my house this week!

Here’s to a great weekend and less wind!

  1. I think my dear, you get alot done in a days time. Book sounds interesting. Expanding one’s photography skills is always a challenge during the cold dreary months of winter.

  2. Darcy says:

I agree with Deanna above – I bet you get a lot done in a day. 🙂 And if the magic cleaning fairy stops by, would you give her directions to Oregon please? Have a great week!

  3. Laurie says:

My husband and I just had a conversation about what I accomplish in a day. 🙂 I was quick to point out it was A LOT.

The best time to learn more about your camera, is when you are out using it. Take the shots that you know you want to have and then start messing with the setting. I too tried to read the manual, but was not successful.

Some days I am left wondering just what did I do all day too! 🙂
What magazines are you writing for?

  5. Aw, I loved this post.

I smiled after reading “I am left wondering …. What did I get done today? I got done the bare necessities. Chores went well, we had a good dinner, I spent time helping J in the shop and that is okay.”

I often times wonder if what all I got done in a day was enough. I suppose as long as no one was hurt and we have clean undies the next day, life is good, right?

So ironic your first line is about creating….goosebumps… check out my blog post today. 🙂

Bundle up. Looks chilly out your way.

  6. By clean undies I meant clean laundry to wear……

Goodness, that came out odd. My apologies. Where is the edit button on these things?! 🙂

  7. Wonderful photography ~ very expressive and well done ~ love the ‘critters’ ~ carol, xxx

thanks for visiting and commenting ~ ^_^

We do get a lot done in a day! I too look back and think what did I get done today? And it really is a lot. The house cleaning and laundry are just “extras”. ha! But, all the cows got fed and taken care of, the dogs and cats got fed. Hubby got fed. And his #1 hand (me) was there to pick up the rest of the slack. 🙂
    Have a great weekend.
The wind will subside. Its been gorgeous here. Hope it stays this way when we start calving. 🙂

  9. emily says:

Please send the fairy my way!! Happy weekend.

  10. Oh, the endless doing & then wondering what have I got done? 🙂 We’ve had three boys down with high fevers.. likely influenza, but they’ve toughed it out, rested, replenished, and seem to be bouncing back. Meanwhile, I run in circles & feel like the house is a disaster even though I’ve cleaned all day, and the fires are dying out even though I’ve been hauling wood non-stop! 🙂
I love these photos of your cattle.. all wooly bully in the winter. I hope to find more creating time soon.

  11. Anne Payne says:

Gorgeous photos! I am trying to create with my paper crafting again, and learn a few watercolor techniques. That part isn’t going so well. If that cleaning fairy shows up, send her my way 😉

  12. Karen says:

Cute cow photos! If the cleaning fairy stops by your place, would you send her over here when she’s done!

  13. tanya breese says:

you know, the actual manual that came with my camera is very brief but there is a huge 100 page one online that i find intimidating to read, especially online. wish they would have just printed it into a hand out manual…gosh i hate reading manuals!

  14. Diane says:

I fired the fairy a lonnnng time ago. She simply was not pulling her weight around here.

  15. You are busy, busy — and I know your efforts are much appreciated. xo

  16. Loretta Beavis says:

What you got done today was…you loved.

Everything else is gone with the wind.

I like the cow faces a lot. When I take pictures, I try to use landscape as the frame too. Distant telephone poles or tree lines frame the hills. Fencing sometimes has bends or corners that work in a nice way.

Why do they have two tags on the ears and when do they get tagged? “Tagging” in my state means evidence of grafitti artists.

    • Robyn says:

      Loretta,
I have loved … Husband, dogs, life and cattle. Also family and friends I don’t see as often as I want to.

J and I like to double tag because if one tag falls out we still have the cow identified by the second tag. We tried freeze branding and didn’t have very good luck. Freeze brands are usually numbers and done for id purposes. This technique is done with dry ice; when the hair grows back in from branding the hair is white. We will re-tag any cows that have lost their tag when we run them through the chute and give them pre-calving shots.

  17. Kris - Sugar Cookies to Peterbilts says:

Can you leave the cleaning fairy a note to come to my place next?

  18. Sharon says:

I love that you are creating, Robyn! Good for you! And if you find that cleaning fairy, send her my way, too 🙂

  19. I need that cleaning fairy to drop in over here too…the one I’ve been using gave her notice a long time ago…LOL

  20. hula~la says:

If that magic fairy shows up, snag her and give her my addie. Cause I’m doing “my” thing this weekend, and it includes, knitting, reading, ok, some cooking…and of course…blogging. Great animal shots always. And think of this…if there were more hours in a day, we’d find more stuff to pack in that doesn’t get done! So, you are way ahead of the game! Have a great weekend! Aloha

  21. pattisj says:

I’d love to have a cleaning fairy visit!

  22. Linda R says:

The days do have a way of zipping by which leaves us wondering where did the time go. I Love your photos of your cows…

    Hugs~

  23. Eden Hills says:

If you find that house cleaning fairy, send them my way next. 😉 The cows look cold. I hope the wind dies down here too.
