The Mop Incident

I am not mechanical.  Not at all; not even a little bit.  For some reason my brain just does not get how to fix or put things together.

Original picture from my camera.

I am a bit destructive.  I don’t try to be, but I am accident prone.  J says I don’t pay enough attention to what I am doing or that I am simply not careful enough.

I am very lucky to have a patient husband who can fix just about anything!

For example, Monday I decided to clean the house.  I thought my mop head needed to be replaced and proceeded to try to take off the old mop head.  I changed the mop head last time and had no issues.  After 30 minutes (not exaggerating) I finally got the darn thing off.  Then I tried to put the new mop head on.  After 20-30 minutes (again, not exaggerating) my mop was in 3 pieces instead of one.

Beings that I was really wanting to get my housework done before supper, I mopped all my floors on my hands and knees.  I was really not a happy cleaner.

By the time J got in I had calmed myself down and kindly asked if he could fix my mop.  10 minutes later, the mop was fixed and he put the new head on it.  Yes, it only took J 10 minutes to fix my problem!

Today I am thankful for easy fixes to broken mops.  I am also thankful to my wonderful Husband for putting up with my non-mechanical self!

Which hen edit is your favorite?  Are you mechanical or accident prone?

  1. Oh boy, I would’ve been in such a rotten mood. I think you need a different mop – one that is user friendly!

  2. Tanya says:

    i’m with lisa!

  3. I like the last edit the best- and I am so not mechanically inclined- the simpler it appears to be the harder it is for me to fix.

  4. Renae says:

I am so glad that it happens to someone else also!!! I try to fix something forever and Travis comes in and in 10 minutes it is working again. He is also very patient and doesn’t laugh when I can’t figure out how to fix things. Thanks for making my day!

  5. Joe says:

The only way this story could have a happier ending is if you could get your hubby to do the mopping too!

  6. LindaG says:

I am in the middle. I can do some things, but fail disastrously at others. ;o)
I like the first 2 best, but they are all interesting.
    Have a great day! :o)

I like the focal soft and black edges the best.
I am actually pretty good at mechanical stuff, more so than hubby! LOL!!

  8. Barb says:

I have to say that I like the second edit the best, it really brought the saturation out in the image.
As for mechanically inclined or not, YES I am. I have always been a tear-apart-er and a put back together type of person.

  9. Teresa says:

Those handy men are a necessity! Glad you got it fixed. I love your different edits.

  10. Kim says:

I am so NOT mechanical. I think I vote for the 2nd edit as well!

  11. Marmepurl says:

    Edit # 2!
The men in my life are mechanics. They have no patience with me even trying to fix something. In return, I have a ‘no men allowed in my kitchen’ policy. Cleaning bathrooms, however is another story.

  12. Pat says:

I like the first edit a lot.
I’m not mechanical either. I always make things harder than they really are.

  13. Definitely accident prone, Robyn. My hubby calls me “the curse” — because that’s just what I am! 🙂

  14. Kari Sanders says:

I am not mechanically minded. That’s why I got married.

    • Robyn says:

Sometimes I wonder what I would do if I didn’t have J fixing things for me all the time. Pretty sure I would have to live in an apartment and walk everywhere.

  15. Kari says:

Hmmm…When I can’t get something fixed I just have to have something to eat, think it out a little while. I’ve gotten really good at fixing things b/c my kids take everything apart! Mike is pretty good at fixing things, but he like many man always try to “muscle” it first before they fix it—Like if they shove it together hard enough it will magically stay put. Ha! Have a great week Robs!

Not all of us are mechanically inclined, but being artistically inclined is nothing to sneeze at. It’s nice that your husband can handle the mechanical stuff. Love the effects on your photos, Robyn!

    • Robyn says:

Thank You BJK! After looking at your photos, that means a lot. I appreciate you taking the time to stop in and comment.

  17. Corinne says:

I like the focal black and white edit of the hen, I mean really like it.
As far as mechanical, I don’t do repairs, but am very in tune to hearing a sound that just isn’t right, or at least it wasn’t there the last time I was around it, and I don’t feel like I am to accident prone.

    • Robyn says:

Thanks, Corinne. If you are not accident prone you are one step ahead of me! I can usually pick up on odd sounds too.
