Shades of Autumn ~ Red

Red is an attention getter!

This color red is used to indicate love, beauty, and passion.  Red suggests hope and warmth brought by the sun.  Fruit turns red to indicate it’s ready to pick and eat; leaves turn red as a sign of cooler temperatures.

Red is a commonly used color on National Flags as it represents blood, sacrifice, and bravery of those who protect their country.

It is also associated with anger, aggression, dominance, guilt, and sin.  Red implies danger and emergency.

The planet Mars is nicknamed the Red Planet.  Mars has plentiful levels of iron oxide that give it a red colored surface.  Along the equator of Jupiter is an extremely large oval-shape known as the Great Red Spot.

Here are a few interesting factoids about this color

It is perceived that athletic performance increases during competition if one is wearing red.

Studied will support that red cars have a higher probability of being in an accident than non-red vehicles.  Do drivers of red automobiles get more speeding tickets?

Research also reveals that men are more attracted to women wearing red and that people respond more strongly towards red than any other color.

In Nebraska we like to say “GO BIG RED!”

    I love my red Gelbvieh, but black is preferred in the industry thanks to those Angus breeders. Of course, I like the red of a Hereford too!
