My Mom’s Signature Pie

Striped Delight Pie or Striped Pie is my Mom’s signature pie.  It is expected to show up at family gatherings and is requested for potlucks and funerals.  Mom usually comes home with a few crumbs left over from this wonderful dessert.

Mom's well worn recipe.

When I was home last weekend Mom and I whipped up some pie for the branding crew.  We doubled the recipe and ended up with three pies!

1   Graham Cracker or Oreo Cookie Crumb crust

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp milk
1 (8 ounce) package Cool whip, divided
1 package (6-serving size) instant chocolate pudding mix
2-1/2 cups cold milk (Mom uses evaporated milk, it adds richness to the pudding!)

Beat Cream Cheese with 1/4 cup sugar and 2 Tbsp. milk until smooth, using an electric mixer on medium low.

Cream cheese, milk and sugar.

All mixed together.

Fold in half the of the Cool Whip.

Spread gently over crumb crust.

Prepare Jell-O Pudding as directed on packages, using 2-1/2 cups cold milk.

Pour over Cream Cheese layer. Chill for at least for 30 minutes or overnight.

Spread remaining Cool Whip over pudding layer. Garnish with grated chocolate and/or chopped nuts, if desired.

Leftovers (if there are any!) MUST be refrigerated.

What is your signature dessert or potluck request?  What is one of your family favorite recipes?
