I am sharing an extra blog post this week as today is the anniversary of my Grandpa’s birthday. Grandpa passed away in January 19, 2004 and is someone I think of almost daily.
My Sister and her family are living on the farmstead that our Mom grew up on. Sister did some remodeling to Grandpa’s house and they have built a functional beautiful sheep facilities.
When I went to NE in June, I got to see Burch Livestock at Seward, NE for the first time. Mick and I also made a stop at the Seward County fairgrounds. Grandpa was a dedicated 4-H Leader in Seward County for 61 years and that was something he was very proud of. As a memorial to Grandpa, Seward County built a gazebo in his honor. This was the first time I got to see the gazebo.
To help fund the project people were able to purchase bricks leading up to the gazebo. The bricks are individually engraved with mementos. I took pictures of the bricks that have special meaning to my family.
Grandpa was a one in a million type of person that is remembered by many.He was a man of strong faith and he loved his family. Grandpa farmed the land and cared for his livestock with pride and dedication. He was a leader and war hero.
I have talked about Grandpa on several blog posts and have included the links throughout this post.
Happy Birthday Grandpa!
