Gala Days Fun

Over the weekend, J and I took in the town celebration.  J’s Brother’s family and folks came out to the Ranch and we got more rain!

I am going… to say we had an exciting weekend.  It was our small town’s Gala Days Celebration.  Friday night J and I took in the High School Theater Showcase.  A friend and I participated in the 5K Fun, Run and Walk Saturday morning!  Saturday afternoon, J and I went in for the Ranch Rodeo and band.  It was fun to visit and catch up with friends and neighbors that we don’t see often enough.

Miss L and I took time for a picture after we got done walking.

I am wondering  what the week has in store for us.  J and I are both have short lists of stuff.  Monday morning J turned bulls out with the cows and I got my deck staining done.  I also mowed and weed eated.  I need to do a little more white trim painting and J wants to start getting equipment ready for haying season.

I am reading… Ascension Day by John Matthews and just finished Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and Samatha Van Leer.

I am hoping… that the rains continue.  A Saturday evening storm gave us .80″.  It was a downpour.  We were lucky the hail and damaging winds missed us this time.

I am looking forward to…  tomatoes, peppers and spinach from my garden.  I got my containers re-planted a couple of weeks ago and my plants are looking good.

I am learning… to do better at going with the flow and taking advantage of the opportunity to have fun.  Last weekend I did two new for me things 1) The 5K Fun, Run and Walk and 2) After the walk there was a local gentleman that went to school for chiropractics and moved home to start his practice.  He has been in the area for 1 1/2 – 2 years and was giving free sessions.  I have never had a treatment before.  Snap, crackle, pop … wow!

J and I enjoyed the Gala Days festivities.  I think J was a little surprised that I was willing to go into town 2 nights in a row and stay up so late.  I may have a social side to me after all!

I used the Laundry Skies texture from Nancy at A Rural Journal on the picture below.

It looks like the rain is helping green up your grasses. Beautiful shots! It also looks like a fun weekend. Have a good week with a shorter list!

Nice photos! Looks nice and green 🙂
It has been hot, the air conditioners were pulled out of storage.
Thankfully we are having plenty of rain with the heat.

  3. I was rather bummed our little town’s annual festival was rained out this year — we had so much going on at home we decided to skip it this year. I’m glad you had fun at yours. It is good to get out amongst civilization now and again. 🙂

  4. I am laughing at your last comment regarding having a “social side”–I think that my husband wonders the same thing about me!

Your pictures are beautiful–Love the one of calf #129 with is mama and the beautiful green grass.

Good to hear that all is well to the north, and I hope that you all continue to be blessed with enough rain.

  5. Your days sound wonderfully varied with activities other than work! Great that you did the 5K and had your first “adjustment.” I’m also thinking that all those black cattle spaced themselves pretty well for your photo. (Actually, I know that you cropped the image that way…and it’s such a good one.)

My favorite pictures are the floral ones. Lovely texture on your last shot.

Here we have a thunderstorm every day during summer. Sometimes severe and if we lose power it is in the summer due to storms. At 90 degrees or more and 80-90 % humidity or more, it gets real hot real fast.

  7. What fabulous shots! I LOVE the Black Angus!!mmmmmmooooo.
Weather?….let’s just say it can’t get any crazzzier than the last few weeks……100 degrees for several days….old ladies and babies keeling over. THEN,,,,,booooom THEE WORST storm I have ever been in and I have been in two hurricanes in my life and this was a lot WORSE and now,,,,,freeeeezing. I have a flannel shirt on in JUNE,,,,HELLO…..goooooofy weather. Need I say more.

  8. Oh fun…so glad to see you are having some fun this summer, sometimes I think you work too hard. Glad you have had some rain to green things up. We have had just a little too much. It is soggy & muggy here.

  9. Yay for participating in a 5K! You may want to do more!
I love the photos of the cows – they look content out in the green pasture. We received some much needed rain here – but there probably more coming!
    Have a great day!

Gorgeous pictures. Love the flowers and the “laundry skies” picture. We’ve had almost 2 inches of rain in the past week. It’s raining now! Time to get the bulls out of the cows. Enjoy your day.

  11. Great use of that texture. It’s a lovely Pastoral Scene.
    Also your Iris is gorgeous.

Sounds like you enjoyed a relaxing weekend. I love your cow photos. I miss our neighbors cows 🙁

oops…weather wise it is 90* today so I didn’t make it until July 1. Broke down and turned on the a/c this morning before it got too hot. But the forecast for over the weekend is only in the mid 80’s so it may go back off again 🙂
Life lesson…trying to be more positive and less critical.

I am SO over all this rain here in Atlanta!! My outdoor cushions haven’t been able to dry out in weeks. I would take them in, but they’re always wet through! Sun, please come back and stay for awhile! 🙂

I love how you processed that last image!

Oh you are finding a nice balance between work and fun that is important, lookin’ good posing with your walking friend Miss L. I go to the Chiro once a month or I could not function it does work.
We have not started haying and are getting a little anxious as it is going to seed but it just keeps raining. Time will tell last year we could have used the rain I am not going to complain. I am not too busy so that is a bonus:) Beautiful photos and edits as usual. Hug B

What a fun time! We have been having rain after rain after rain. I know some people need it, but we could sure use a break from it!

  16. Nancy says:

Oh, don’t even get me started on the heat and WIND here. lol Glad you had some good times.

  17. Bonnie says:

Here in the Northern Hills we have had plenty of rain. There is a thunderstorm every other evening. Only problem is it is always accompanied by hail. My garden is hanging in there, but it isn’t pretty. Glad you had fun at the Gala Days.

  18. Sharon says:

I just love your cows! The texture on their photo is great. It’s sunny / cloudy here, in the 70s. Not too different from any time of year in Southern California. I really miss having “seasons” but I’m not complaining!

  19. Pat says:

The grass looks lush for all your cows and calves. We have tiny tomatoes on all our plants and I’m looking forward to the first delicious harvest.

  20. Karen says:

Your photos are pretty, Robyn – they seem greener to me than they were last summer. I’m glad you enjoyed the Gala Days – it sounds like a fun time!

  21. Allie says:

Sounds like an eventful & exciting time! Blessings to you!
