Fencing and Water Projects

Friday morning J and I hauled the last load of weed bales; J used them to build a windbreak in the winter pasture. While he was unloading the trailer I strolled down to the dam and took these pictures with my cell phone.

That night J and I went into town for the Homecoming High School football game. There were lots of people to visit with on a chilly evening.

Saturday we hung the new gate J and his Uncle built. I figured it was a morning project and thought I was being generous. One “fix it while we are working in the corals” after another and it was 2:00 before we got done. After that we did a little fence fixing around the hay corals. It was a beautiful day to be out working on projects.

J and I took full advantage of a rainy windy Sunday by sleeping in and relaxing.

Monday and Tuesday we did some prep work for the new waterer J is installing. In addition, J did some dirt work and lots of brainstorming. I started a couple crafty projects. When J got caught up with his tasks he helped me get started with my pallet project. I hope to finish it up today.

Wednesday J and I made a trip to North Dakota boarder town. I had two appointments and J spent all morning running errands. By the looks of his purchases (and the fact he filled half the flatbed trailer) we have a lot of fence building and fixing in our future. On the bright side it’s job security.

We also had to stop in Small Town for a additional supplies for the waterer project.

Today a neighbor is coming to help J with the waterer project. The waterer is going in the calf weaning pen. It will be nice to have an automatic water vs. hydrant and tank during calf weaning. This pen is right outside the calving barn, so the waterer will be put to good use during calving too.

What are some of the fall projects going on at your place?

Those fall colors against the blue sky are gorgeous! Is that a cottonwood tree?
Our fall projects include chopping more corn to top off the silos…combining corn and soybeans…and then baling corn fodder. I should be out in my garden/flower beds, but it’s just not going to happen. Discouraging, but it is what it is, and I need to adjust!
Have fun building and fixing those fences. It will be a great feeling when you’re finished, I’m sure!

Your cell phone takes better photos than mine does! Our trees are starting to turn color, but we still have a ways to go. We have a big high school football here tomorrow evening. Our team is undefeated and is playing a team with an explosive offense. It should be a great night for football! The guys are working on fence today. I need to start doing some baking and getting it into the freezer for the church bazaar. Maybe tomorrow!

Oh, those are GORGEOUS photos! I think No. 3 is my favorite! And I agree with Kim — my cell phone photos can’t compare to yours. Thanks for sharing the beauty!
