Easter Cookies and Decor

Microsoft Word defines creativity as the ability to use the imagination to develop new and original ideas or things, especially in an artistic context.

I do not think of myself as a very creative person.  Sister inherited that gene from Mom.  However, I can find simple ideas in magazines, on food blogs and Pinterest.  I can try to repeat them with my own twist.

I made two types of sugar cookies.  Lemony Butter Cookies, from The Great American Cookie Cookbook (page 226), and the Pioneer Woman’s  Angel Sugar Cookies, from her first cookbook.  I frosted the cookies with Decorator Frosting, also from The Great American Cookie Cookbook (page 554).

When Mom and I went to visit Sister in Iowa, Mom found a container of cookies cutters.  Over 100 cookie cutters of all different kinds.  She could not resist the buy and was kind enough to share

Flower shapes can be made to look like sheep.  Circles can look like chicks.  Jelly beans are good flower centers, bunny ears or tails.  Mini Chocolate Chips look a lot like eyes to me.  I like sprinkles and stickers; they are fun to buy and I can usually find a use for them.

I find baking and decorating cookies fun.  I really like to share my small bit of creativity and enjoy sugar creations.

I saw this neat Easter idea  and this idea on Pinterest and thought, “Oh, I can do that!”

2 lattice topped bowls, gum drops, peeps, colored raffia and I can be creative too!

I had an old green ball jar and these little flowers.  I used the left over peeps and some regular colored raffia to make this …

Do think of yourself as creative or crafty?

It is really fun to get out the spring and Easter decor after a long hard winter. Okay, it’s fun when we don’t have a hard winter too! I can’t remember where I came up with the gumdrop idea. I had them in a candle hurricane sorted to into rainbow colors. After seeing the ideas on Pinterest I thought I could change things up a little.

I LOVE your decorated cookies, especially the sheepies! I never have any luck with them. 🙁
Using the Peeps for decoration is a cute idea too!

  3. I am creative in my mind. When it comes to the execution-not so much! lol Thanks for linking up at the Bunny Hop Blog Party with my co-host, Kristen!

  4. I think I’m more creative in the kitchen than crafty. I can visualize my crafty ideas…but they never look as good in person as they do in my head! 🙂 Thanks for sharing these great ideas!
