Cowdry Lake

J’s family enjoys water and likes to take a week long lakeside vacation. This year we went to Cowdry Lake at Alexandria, MN.

We arrived on Saturday afternoon, settled in and J and I made supper. We grilled burgers and brats and enjoyed homemade coleslaw and a watermelon.

Sunday we stumbled upon the Alexandria Area Arts Art in the Park. There were over 100 booths of crafted items, food and live music. It was a beautiful day and great way to spend an afternoon.

Monday us girls went exploring downtown. Alexandria has a lot of shops full of antiques and fun contemporary decor. I found several neat items and purchased a few things for my next project ideas.

Tuesday morning J’s Mom, Sister, Aunt, Niece and I toured the Tastefully Simple Cooperate Headquarters. It was well worth the time to learn more about how the dream of Jill Blashack Strahan became the success it is today.

Each night a different family cooked. As I mentioned before, J and I kicked off vacation by grilling. We also enjoyed beef pot roast and lasagna. For Jim’s birthday we went out to eat and I made J’s favorite cake.

J and I left the lake on Wednesday morning and made it half way home. J needed to stop and look at a farm truck near Mike and KJ’s, so we spent the night with them. It’s always fun to spend time with good friends.

We really enjoyed our trip to Cowdry Lake. Getting off the ranch was just the break we needed after a busy June and intense haying season. It’s important to get away from it all for a little while to clear our minds and recharge.
