Birds, Birds, Birds

I finally got a shot of one of our resident Canada Geese.  I added textures from Nancy at A Rural Journal. Beth texture was added to the sky and Organic Paper texture to the grassland.

I saw this Meadowlark the other day.  It was singing it’s heart out.  Being as the Meadowlark is the State Bird of Nebraska, I had to take a picture.

As I was gathering pairs during chores last week I saw these cranes passing through.

Great captures! I’ve had a pair of Canada geese in my pasture, but I’m afraid they aren’t happy that the goats and I are spending so much time out there.

Stumbled across your blog looking for rural/country photo linky parties. We have just moved from our farm property in Hanna, AB to 1/4 of land just outside of Medicine Hat, AB. We don’t have cattle here and your pictures have made me miss the calving season 🙂 We raised black angus and those cute little calf faces are the best! I will check in often…hope the weather soon co operates for you to finish up calving season!

I love seeing all of the birds in the spring. Here in the hills I look forward to the first bluebirds and robins. I love seeing the sandhill cranes up close. I so enjoy watching them fly over.

  13. Great set of pictures. I really love they first one.

You have some great and co-operative birds in your area of the world, apart from ducks and geese I have found them to be very difficult models to work with!

Great captures and I just love that little Medowlark! 🙂

  16. Wonderful shots of the birds. The lone goose in the field was pretty cool, the meadowlark was darling but oh my goodness those cranes were awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many cranes at one time.
