Baptism for Miles

A week ago J and I went to Nebraska to visit my family. For the first time in several years Mom, Dad, Sister, Kolby, J and I were all together. We went home for the baptism of Miles.

Grandpa and Miles are buddies.

J and I arrived home on Thursday afternoon. We had a nice drive and took time to eat at The Peppermill in Valentine, NE. J and I both recommend the BBQ Brisket Stacker sandwich.

Friday we did odd ball things outside and a few last minute tasks to get ready for the weekend. Sister and her family made it home early in the evening.

J, Dad and I slipped down to visit neighbor Tom.

Early Saturday morning Dad and Kolby took a load of lambs to the sale barn. Mom, J and I watched Miles for a few hours while Micky, Kolby and Dad went to look at sheep. Changing the baby was an entertaining task for us, but we got the job done.

Late afternoon we welcomed Kolby’s folks and family friends to Hazard. After watching American Pharoah win the Belmont Stakes we ate supper. J did a fabulous job grilling lamb steaks! Sister had three different types of dips with complimentary crackers and chips. She also made Avocado Strawberry Spinach Salad (it was awesome). Veggies, macaroni salad and coleslaw rounded out the main course. Micky made chocolate chip cookies and I Special K bars for dessert.

God-Mother Ashley, Kolby, Micky, Miles, Me (also a God-Mother) and Fr. Marty.

Sunday morning we were up early for 8:00 am Church. Due to Loup City’s Polish Days celebration, there was a polka band providing music for Church services.

After the baptism we went to Brunch at The Dam Bar. They serve an excellent breakfast buffet. Micky and Mom invited two of our Aunts and Uncles on the Wilson side, as well as a few good friends and neighbors. From the looks of things everyone had a great time visiting.

Kolby, Micky, Miles, Mom (also known as Grammy) and Dad.

One of the highlights of our trip was staying with Uncle Bill and Aunt Janet. They live a few miles from Mom and Dad. J and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Wilson family stories, getting to know Janet better and attempting to solve a few world problems.

Yes, I’m in a dress! I thought is was a good reason for J to take a picture with me.

While we were in Nebraska J’s folks came out to hold down the fort. We are lucky to be able to travel and know everything is in good hands while we are away. T and B got the summer fallow finished up, did yard work and a few odd jobs. Also, the last cow calved!

J and I got home late Monday afternoon. It’s amazing how quick the demands of life jump us back to “our normal”. It makes me realize how important it is to take an occasional break from our everyday life to enjoy different scenery and time with family and friends.

Your dress is very pretty! I just bought me a dress online! Lol! A turquoise and black dress with a shark bite hem! Ha! Had to get it for a wedding we attended. And yes, it matched my cowboy boots! I am a cowgirl all they way to the core.
    Yea! The last cow done!
    Have a good day!

      Cheri,

I want to see you in a dress! Apparently they have a dress service on-line where you give them your measurements and they send you a trendy dress once a month. I’m not sure if it’s a wear and return or a membership and keep the dress business.

I think the last time I wore a dress was when J’s Sister got married, six years ago.I need to go dress shoe shopping, lucky for me Micky fixed me up. I’ve been telling J for 10 years I need a pair of dress shoe. I don’t like shopping and am never in the mood when we are in town. Now I can continue procrastinating on shoe shopping.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

What a nice time! The baby is a cutie-pie! 🙂
We enjoyed watching the Belmont Stakes last Saturday and were really happy to see the new Triple Crown winner.

      Candy,
Mom is a horse fan. She reads books about race horses and kind of follows blood lines. She says the development of the horse racing industry has deep roots in American History and people in history. She was so worried about possibly missing the race! It was a fun race to watch and experience a Triple Crown winner!

  5. Aunt Linda says:

So glad all of you could get together to celebrate Miles. Everyone looks like they were having a good time and I imagine Miles was covered with kisses and surrounded by love. He is a very lucky little boy.

    • Robyn says:

      Linda,
Grammy has Miles watching Gun Smoke over the noon hour and Grandpa is pretty smitten with him! Miles had a check up a week ago Thursday, he’s over 16 pounds, smiling and talking a little jibber jabber. Between his two Grandpas and Dad I he has a good chance to inherit the gift to gab.
