Art Class

Last Monday was the first Lesson for the on-line art class I’m taking with Jodene Shaw at White Owl Wings. The theme of this lesson was having the courage to take an unsteady step and deciding that step beats the feelings of regret.

Our first project was a collage. I chose the Bible verse Deuteronomy 31:6 as the focus for my project.

Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid of tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you, He will not fail you or forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

I was so inspired I decided to do a couple more collages. I incorporated part of lesson two on these pieces. Our second lesson was about digging deeper to reveal what makes us who we are and asking ourselves what touches our soul.

Lesson two was a journaling and mental exercise. Jodi had us make a list of “One Day” statements. Once I got started, statements came flowing out of me. Five typed pages of graciously spaced thoughts later, I felt lighter.

These are the statements I included in the above pieces:

One day she understood the lessons she had learned helped her become the woman she is today.

One day she decided to act on faith instead of fear.

One day she decided to hang on to faith and trust in the Lord.

I was excited when I discovered these statements lead into the next lesson perfectly! Lesson three is about letting our lives be strengthened by faith and not ruled by fear. Jodi, focused on The Parable of the Talents (Mathew 25:14-30)

Jodi wanted us to have a spiral bound journal or sketchbook with unlined pages for this class. Lesson three’s art project is to make a collage on the cover of our journal and my project for the day.

I’m really enjoying this class and looking forward to my wobbly steps becoming stronger, more true to myself and faithful.

      Thanks, Lisa.
Hope you and the family are staying warm too!

I love working out my artistic side as I don’t consider myself artistic. It’s fun to discover creativity in my soul. I have discovered when I don’t have the bug to do projects, I can’t do it. My mind blocks, I get is frustrated and it’s best to do something else.

Wonderful Robyn… the verse you chose is a very good anchor in the Lord… and those thoughts, introspective and good… it sounds like the Lord showed you some tender and perhaps weak and blind spots that He wanted you to be aware of and look to Him for your confidence and strength…
