An Old Barn and An Old Shed

This barn sits just outside a North Dakota border town.  I have driven by it for years and it catches my eye every time.

Late last week we enjoyed a cool down.  Thursday evening we got .20″ of rain.  Friday and Saturday we saw high’s in the 70’s.  It was nice to open ALL the windows and let the cool summer breeze in.  Sunday afternoon the A/C kicked back on and we are back to temperatures in the mid 90’s.

This shed is at an abandoned farmstead on a neighboring ranch.  The house foundation and remnants of the past remain too.  I wonder about places like this.  What was this farmstead like in its prime?

Sunday evening J and I went to supper at a friend’s house.  This is the same couple that we went 4-wheeling with for our Anniversaries (B and L’s Anniversary is 2 days before ours).  We had a fun visit, wonderful food and a few laughs!  When we were leaving B said “Now let’s not let 6 months pass by before we do this again!”  Agreed!

J has been doing odds and ends around the ranch.  Tuesday, we had dental appointments and I also saw the Doctor.  It was a long day and I took the easy way out for supper.  Sweet corn and watermelon.  Simple summer comfort food!

We are still mesmerized by the Olympics and the final episode of Dallas is tonight.

How is August treating you?

Love that barn! I’m glad to hear you got some rain. It’s so sad when we get excited over small amounts of rain.

The cupolas on that first barn are amazing, especially that they are still standing! We don’t get together with friends nearly as often as we should. We see them at church, etc., but I need to be more intentional about inviting people over. I’m glad you got a little rain. I love the Olympics, too.
