A Local Barn

This is a neighbor’s barn.  This family has not had livestock for many years, but I am sure this barn was the hub of activity in its day.

We had another social weekend.  J and I went to the Hills on Saturday.  J’s Grandma’s side of the family had a reunion.  We spent the late morning visiting with J’s folks and brother’s family, walked around Motorcycle City a little bit and headed to the reunion.  It was at the end of Spearfish Canyon and we enjoyed the beautiful drive!

I have to brag about J.  He is a deal getter, that or just plain lucky!

Each Saturday the local Farm Radio Station has an auction.  Last weekend the auction feature was a custom-built bay window.  They started the bidding and couldn’t  get an opening bid.  J asked what I thought and I said go for it.  The picture window in our livingroom needs replaced and we have been thinking about a bay window for years.  One bid later we are owners of the window.  J paid just a hair over 1/3 of the value of the window!  I quickly smiled and told J that this would be our Anniversary gift to each other.

In other news, the last two days there have been rain showers in the area.  The lightning was fierce on the way to work yesterday.  No rain at our house.

Are you watching the Olympics?  It’s a necessity at our house.  Not only are the athletes spectacular, but there are so many human interest stories.  I am easily amazed at the physical abilities and talents of these individuals.  I also know that there is a level of mental preparedness that goes along with competition and admire the sportsmanship so many athletes practice.

What is your favorite Summer Olympic sport to watch?

We haven’t been able to get excited about the Olympics this year, don’t know why…

Thanks Candy, we are excited. J and I try to do one Home Improvement project a year. It will be great to have more natural light in the house!
