A Few More State Fair Pictures

Yea for long weekends!  Between traveling and working cattle I greatly appreciated a few quiet days at home.  I did some baking.  Bread, bars … and more ice cream!  I promise to post the recipe next week.  I did some cleaning.  I did some laundry… washing and pant pressing.  I helped J move cows on Monday morning.  I talked to Mom and Sister on the phone and edited pictures.

While at the State Fair the open class poultry show was going on … in the same building.  Sheep and poultry can make a lot of noise.  There were 4 of these turkeys singing all day long!

We were also stalled near the birthing center.  I couldn’t help but take a few early morning pictures.

The Open Class and 4-H Dairy Cattle were also showing.  I took these pictures after the Open Class Dairy show.  Looks like these beauties had a long day.

The sheep barn had a row of pens with different breeds of sheep in them.  This is an Icelandic sheep.

I must brag just a little.  Sister and her Husband raised the Grand Champion 4-H Market Lamb at this year’s Nebraska State Fair.  They also raised the Champion Lightweight Market Lamb at the State Fair FFA Show.

How was your Labor Day Weekend?

    Hi Robyn,
That turkey looks like he’s quite an old gobbler!
    Love that cute little piggy.
Congrats to your sister and her husband!

My weekend was very quiet but I really need to get busy with some fall cleaning – ah, maybe this weekend. 🙂

I love the early morning pictures… the cow really does look like he has big sleep rings round his eye… I guess he had a bad night!

Thanks for stopping in, Molly. There were several cows with their heads curled around and sleeping. It was fun to see them resting after a busy day in the show ring.

I have to admit I am a proud Big Sister! There were several cows with their heads curled around sleeping; I just had to take a picture.

  6. Enjoyed your State Fair photos! BTW, you have a misspelled link with your Google account. When I clicked from your comment on my blog to try to find you, it tried to load “theanchwifechronicles.com.” I still found you, of course, but thought I’d let you know. 🙂
